Pop Up Shop Diary - Week 3

Welcome to a new short series of blog posts about our Pop Up Shop. Every week we'll write a blog post about what is in the diary for the coming week. We'll also do a roundup of what's already happened.

So here's week 2 of the shop

Week 2 has been a whirlwind. After such a busy and exciting first week

we thought it won't be the same in week 2. How wrong we were. Week 2 has been just as busy as week 1.

It's been a joy to see faces light up when they see the shop. After putting in months of prep it's a real relief that our hard work is paying off.

We want to say a very big thank you to everyone who has popped in to say hi, had a browse or bought something. It's such a pleasure to see you all.

We still have lots of lovely yarn, fibre, accessories, decorations, gifts and cards in our woolly haven. You should pop in and say hi.

On Wednesday eve we hosted our second Stitch Up Social. We met in The Good Intent who were kind enough to reserve a couple of tables for us.

I didn't take any pictures (sorry!) but there was lots of talk about chess, dog spotting and of course what everyone was making.

If you're free on a Wednesday evening, bring your current stitch project and join our friendly conversation. All stitch based disciplines welcome - we love them all!.

Stitch Up, every Wednesday 6-8pm. We'll meet in the shop, then move to The Good Intent pub, 32-33 Great Western Arcade. Hope to see you there.

On Saturday we held a trunk show with Lola from Third Vault Yarns.

Lola travelled all the way from Scotland to be with us. They brought a suitcase full of Sci-Fi and fantasy inspired yarns and patterns, including some new exclusive colourways, along with some gorgeous fluff.

It was a delight to host Lola, especially as the fates have previously conspired against them attending Yarningham.

If you didn't get down to see Lola, go check them out on IG or visit their website.

Our last event of the week was a Knitwear Mending Class hosted by Annette from Makers Circle.

Our participants all learnt basic techniques to repair their knitwear and there was lots of friendly talk between participants about different fibre properties, names of stitches and how to manage your WIP's.

A big thank you to Annette for taking the class and to everyone who came. We hope you enjoyed the workshop.

Coming up this week

We'll be hosting our Stitch Up social on Wednesday evening.

Bring along your current stitch based project and join our friendly conversation. Everyone welcome - you don't even have to be good!

We meet at the shop then move to The Good Intent pub which is just opposite the shop. They kindly reserve us a couple of tables, so please join us

Stitch Up Social, Every Wednesday whilst the pop up shop is open, 6-8pm

We have a quieter events calendar this week so let me tell you about our last event.

On Saturday 9 December we are holding a yarn swap.

We all have skeins and balls of yarn languishing in our stashes that we will never use. Maybe they are a colourway that isn't to your tastes, or a fibre content that you can't use anymore. There's nothing wrong with them - you just won't use them

So bring along your unwanted skeins and balls and swap them for something else. We ask that you only bring whole skeins/balls and preferably with their ball bands.

Entry to our Yarn Swap is £3. Payable by cash/card on the day. All monies raised will be donated to MIST Brum, an organisation that provides free immigration advice and application casework.
